A Hard Day

Well today is Day +6 and after a morning of constant hair clumps, we decided to shave Jaylee's head. We first noticed it this morning when we saw how much hair was on her pillow case. Then because Jaylee likes to play with her hair we saw that she was pulling clumps of it out and then itching her eyes with it, which then led to more itching. After the decision was made, I had a bit of a break down. It seemed like it was all crashing home to us just how sick she really is. Jeff took the initiative and started to shave her head first. About halfway thru, it really got to him and he started crying, which in turn made me cry even harder! Once I calmed down a bit, I took the opportunity to finish the job. It only took about ten minutes to get it all done and she did really good. She looks a little bit like a boy but is still the most BEAUTIFUL girl ever! Unfortunately for some reason the video camera did not record the process and so we don't have any video to keep! I am totally bummed about it too!! We DID keep all of her hair though! Anyway It was definitely a traumatic morning for us all! Love you all!

  1. I'm so sorry that you have to go through all of this emotional stress! It's good to hear that Jaylee is mostly happy through it all, she is a strong little girl! I bet she looks very beautiful!! And they say if you have a little girl and shave her head it will make her hair come back thicker so it will be a good thing in the long run :) Atleast you know things will get better from here on out.

    We love you all!

  2. I am so, so sorry. My eyes filled with tears as I read this! The good (?) thing is she's still a baby (my nieces and nephews didn't even GET hair until they were 2 years old!) and she won't remember it. I love you all!!

  3. Stay Strong you two! I found this article and thought of you and your family:
The principle of hope extends into the eternities, but it also can sustain us through the everyday challenges of life. "Happy is he," said the Psalmist, "that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God" (Psalm 146:5). With hope, we can find joy in life. We can "have patience, and bear with . . . afflictions, with a firm hope that ye shall one day rest from all your afflictions" (Alma 34:41). We can "press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life" (2 Nephi 31:20).
Know she is being watched over and protected by a higher power. I pray for you all often.
